The Main House
(Moses Hughes House)

The three-story house of lovely brown brick is distinguished by whitewashed brick work at the roof line that resembles rickrack, called Queen Ann's lace.
Surrounded by century old trees, the house stands atop a hill in stately solitude on a lawn carpeted with myrtle in which English Ivy is slowly creeping.

Kitchen
Living Room

The house features five bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen with dining area, family room, den, dining room, study, laundry room, and an unfinished attic and basement. There is a covered porch, screened porch, terrace, small patio off the kitchen and a portichere. The walls are plastered, the ceilings are of wood and the floors are of hand sawed and hand planned heart pine, nailed with handmade square nails. All rooms have large fireplaces. The five baths have heated tiled floors and beautiful period washstands. One upstairs bath has a large tub for long soaks.

Originally built in 1828 from bricks handmade on the site, this house was totally renovated in 1999, and a major addition was finished in 2002. The total project took over 3 years, and during this period literally "no brick was left unturned".
